THE OLIVE TREE (olivam uberem), we often hear the expression, “extending an olive branch” to another person as a desire for peace.
There is possibly no better enduring symbol of longevity, tranquility and health. First mentioned in Christian mythology when the dove returned to Noah's ark carrying an olive branch in its beak, it also accompanied the Greeks in times of both prosperity and deprivation and left its imprint in every aspect of their cultural tradition. In ancient Rome, the Olive Tree represented wisdom, peace, and fertility. Since that time, the olive branch has been a symbol of peace, good luck, victory, blessings and fruitfulness. and a reminder of the existential link between humans and the earth.
